By presenting to the journalists the impressive reactor of production of diamond CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) of the company of micro-technology Diamaze, Ulysse Nardin wished to demonstrate the existing synergies between the technologies of engraving of the silicon and the Diamond Coated Silicon (DCS) one. This stage crowns years of research and important investments of the brand from Le Locle always in the avant-garde in the use of innovative materials for the production of its movement components.

Sigatec SA and Silicon

Created in 2006, Sigatec develops products for the watchmaking industry but also for the medical and the biotech sectors. The silicon has the double characteristic to be three times lighter than the traditional materials and to avoid any lubrication of the movement.

Diamaze SA and Diamond
Although the diamonds are a very light raw material, its hardness is ten times superior to that some titanium and steel. So signs of wear are pratically non existent. It makes them an ideal material for micromechanics, where low friction losses, light weight and high mechanical stability are at premium.
