Swarovski unveils the OCTEA SPORT White Ceramic watch

In this preview Swarovski unveils a real surprise piece from its third watch collection, which will be presented next March at the World Watch and Jewelry Show in Basel.

From the new pieces for 2011, Swarovski has chosen its flagship “Octea Sport” watch from which to develop, with the company’s customary precision and legendary perfection, its first piece in faceted ceramic.

A material loved by many watchmakers and jewelers for its durability and beauty, ceramic has fast become a symbol of immutable luxury. It offers new horizons for research and innovation, values close to Swarovski’s heart.

OCTEA SPORT White Ceramic

Swarovski has over 115 years of experience in crystal faceting, and has made full use of this unique know-how when working with ceramic for the very first time. The company has achieved a real technical feat, imparting an exceptional brilliance, matching that of crystal, to this faceted white ceramic timepiece.

Wholly created in white ceramic, cut from a single piece with a sunray pattern, the unidirectional rotating bezel presented a real challenge when it came to maintaining the high quality of Swarovski’s masterful work with cut crystal.
Tone-on-tone, the lacquered white dial is adorned with the Swan logo at 12 o’clock, complemented by the hand-applied index markers and Arabic numerals. In the center, protected by an anti-reflective and scratchproof sapphire watch glass, the second hand and the luminescent minute and hour hands sweep past the date window set at 3 o’clock. In a sophisticated touch, the notched crown with glass cabochon also features a metallic Swan, and the Swanflower® pattern appears on the back of the 39 mm steel case. Important details are also engraved on the steel case, such as the brand name and the Swiss made certification which relate to the ETA movement and the fact that the watch is water resistant to a depth of 50 meters – all of which testifies to the quality of this watch.
Playing with the balance between curves and controlled lines, the watch strap in white rubber features six hand-set and faceted white ceramic pieces, creating the perfect combination of comfort and esthetics.
This contemporary design in white ceramic is both feminine and sporty. It makes for a new look – and a whole new attitude.
