A Small retrospective about a brand that touched us on the one hand by its welcome in Basel, and on the other hand by the quality of its creations. Let us introduce you to the brand Sarcar and its fantastic model: “The Twist”.
This house was founded in 1948 by Carlo Sarzano, and has been astonishing us since 2003 by combining the beauty of the diamond with the most poetic movements: rotation. Some might think these creations are excessive, exaggerated. But just like dreams, does the universe has a limit? As creators of Dreams, it is part of Sarcar duty to push the limits further.
As always, the universe is what fascinates Sarcar’s team of watchmakers. The sun, the moon and the myriads of stars are the greatest source of inspiration for their creation.
Combining their know-how with the latest studies in micro technology, dynamic orbital and levitation, it took more than two years of research and development for Sarcar’s watchmakers, scientists and engineers team to achieve a great step in the realm of horological sciences. Their latest creation, “The Twist”, is indeed a technical wonder that will marvel every watch-making lover.
By adding “one-carat”, a moving solitaire on a dial paved with glitters, and wrapped by a case made with gold and encrusted diamonds, this ingenious conception of luxury timepiece propelled Sarcar’s brand image to its highest level in the world of horological space era.
The moving “one-carat” solitaire which is above the 12 o’clock index turns around in every direction and thus at the slightest twist of the wrist in order to let emanate multiple streams of twinkling, hypnotic and fascination colors .
Since 1948, Sarcar has been pursuing a constant quest for beauty and originality. The watch-making house principles are based on creativity and the capacity of inspiring dreams, that the model “Twist” performs amazingly.
It all started when Mrs Maya Koenig (CEO of Sarcar) and Dr Guilio Manzoni (an engineer specialized in the field of aerospace technology) met by chance.
During their encounter at a social event, Dr Manzoni was asked if it would be possible to let a one-carat brilliant-cut diamond spin and float inside a watch. With this unwitting challenge set for him, the engineer, endowed with a personality which is constantly eager to take new challenges and to push the limits of feasibility further, decided to start immediately this new adventure.
It took more than two years of research and perseverance to be able to achieve this project, by working closely with Sarcar’s team of watchmakers and by learning the horological technology in order to understand what makes a tick of a watch.
After several prototypes and hundreds of drawings, the scientific engineer and Sarcar’s watchmakers finally finalized their work and presented the “Twist” at Basel 2009. An amazing feat which captivates everybody who is lucky to see it.
