On November 6th, la Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle will be celebrating the 4th anniversary of Watchmaking Heritage Day. The program has been published just recently on the newspapers. Not less than 46 companies and institutions will open their doors to the public during that day. Among them 31 in La Chaux-de-Fonds and 15 in Le Locle.
The Watchmaking Heritage Day represent a unique opportunity to discover the exciting world of watchmaking right in heart of its production center. The organizers of this event offer to the public a unique opportunity to visit places where Swiss made watches are designed and manufactured. These workshop and factories have made the reputation of the Swiss watchmaking industry all over the world.
This event is organized by the two cities; La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. The Watchmaking Heritage Days have been a response to current demand. During the recent years we have observed that fans of matchmaking want more than admiring matchmaking creations. Indeed, they also want to discover the conditions under which these timepieces were produced.
A region and an industry bind together.
This positive curiosity for what happens behind and on the stage of the watchmaking industry will be fully satisfied during this event in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle (places known as the cradle of watchmaking by excellence). In this region, you will observe the strong link that binds these famous international brands and the region in which they are settled.
The success of the watch-making industry is not due to a coincidence. In fact, it is the combination between hard work and the willingness to gradually forge a solid know-how and innovations, which made today the watch-making industry so much appreciated.
Built by and for watchmakers, La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle have been listed since 2009 among UNESCO’s the World Heritage. This recognition makes the link between the development of two towns and the development of their watchmaking industry even more explicit. This bind is what that the visitor will feel while walking in the streets of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle, just after leaving workshop or a watchmaker manufacturer.
