Eterna Pulsomètre édition limitée 1942

Established in 1856, Eterna has over the years contributed more than its share of groundbreaking designs to the development of mechanical horology. Intent upon making these classics available to current and to future generations, its new Heritage Collection opens with two of its most celebrated historic designs, the Pulsometer Limited Edition 1942 and the Super KonTiki Limited Edition 1973.

Both are scheduled to reach market in autumn 2010. This relaunch underlines Eterna’s ambition to make truly personable, high-quality mechanical watches available at reasonable prices to watch enthusiasts.
The Pulsometer – new generation, improved efficiency

Both practical medical instrument and handy timepiece, Eterna’s Pulsometer was by 1942 demonstrating its usefulness on the wrist of any number of medical doctors and nurses. It is back in 2010, this time with a self-winding mechanical movement providing 42 hours of reserve power fitted in a stainless steel case 42 mm across. The model’s limited-edition number, from 1 to 1942, is engraved on the case back. Professional caregivers and historians alike will be happy to see that the Eterna Pulsometer Limited Edition 1942 is recognizably the same as the historic version, not least its classic dial layout with pulsometric scale, minute totaliser and subdial for the seconds, joined today by a date calendar at 6 o’clock.

Its screw-locked back and sapphire crystal contribute to its water resistance to 50 metres (approx. 165 feet or 5 bars). It is fitted with a black Louisiana alligator leather strap with folding clasp.

  • Movement: calibre ETA 2894-2; self-winding mechanical movement with chronograph functions; power reserve 42 h; 28,800 v.p.h; 37 jewels; diameter 28 mm (12½ lines); hour, minutes and seconds, display of the date.
  • Dial/hands: silvered; Arabic numerals coated with a green luminous compound; blue pulsometric scale; blued centre hour and minute hands at centre, coated with a white luminous compound; blued centre seconds hand; blued running seconds at 3 o’clock; blued 30-minute totaliser at 9 o’clock; date aperture at 6 o’clock.
  • Case/back: polished and brushed stainless steel case; scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal; screw-down case back with engraved number (0001/1,942); water-resistant to 50m/ ~165 feet (5 bars); diameter 42 mm; thickness 13.1 mm.
  • Bracelet/clasp: black Louisiana alligator leather with polished stainless steel folding clasp.
