There is a breath of modernity at CATOREX with the new “New London” range coming out for Baselworld 2010. Les Breuleux (JU), the watch-makers specialised in pocket watches, is also taking advantage of the event to again take up with the world of wrist watches.
The “New London” is, above all, a resolutely modernistic square box with rounded sides which contains two entirely reconditioned Unitas type hand-winding mechanical movements dating from the 1960s. This particular system thus makes it possible simultaneously to offer two time zones on the same chronometer. The movements are skeleton in order to display the intimate life of the watch.
As a pocket watch, the “New London” displays the two time zones, one on the face and the other on the back. Three models are available, each with a different finish. As a wrist watch, the openwork movements give the time at two and eight o’clock on a single, elegantly decorated dial. Seven models are on offer, which differ mainly in the decoration of their steel cases, the decorations or colours of their movements, their dials or their straps made of various leathers.
The brand however continues to offer its know-how in its traditional ranges. So it is that CATOREX pocket watches also exist in 18 carat
Gold or Sterling Silver 925. The traditional ”Les Breuleux” range comes in various versions as does the “La Pautèle” range with the palladium-plated brass models. The “Armand Cattin” range is classified as up-market with its
entirely engine-turned or finely decorated and polished movements and cases.
As for the CATOREX pendant watches, they are veritable little gems to grace the female neck and they exist in three ranges, distinguished above all by the forms of their small case.
“Les petites insolentes” are all round and cheeky, “Les petites élégantes” adopt a more traditional and reasonable oval form. Lastly, “Les petites rayonnantes” play the miniature with their circular, and even spherical, case according to model.
