When it was introduced in 2007, the Breguet Marine Tourbillon was the first watch to have a calibre with a silicon escapement. The balance-spring, balance-wheel and lever all used this material. The tourbillon carriage was made of titanium. The reason for using these ultra-innovative materials was because they made it possible to obtain a tourbillon that was light, and therefore highly shock resistant; non-magnetic; and easier to regulate since it did not require lubrication. The combination of this prestigious complication, invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet, with a chronograph function, marked the birth of an exceptional watch. Launched as an 18-carat red-gold version in 2007, it is now being introduced with a 950 platinum case. The matching dial and hands are also of this material, the use of which remains an exception in watchmaking due to the price. Here, the original hands have been replaced by blued-steel Breguet hands. The dial is still solid gold, entirely covered with hand engraving done on a rose engine in the finest Breguet tradition. Only the finish has been changed, to silvered platinum.

- Case round in platinum 950 with finely fluted caseband. Caseback hand-engraved on a rose engine and fitted with a sapphire crystal. Rounded lugs welded to the case with screw pins securing the strap. 42mm diameter. Wave-shaped chronograph pushpieces. Water-resistant to 10 bar (100 meters).
- Dial in silvered platinum-coated gold, hand-engraved on a rose engine with a wave motif. Individually numbered and signed Breguet. Chapter ring with Roman numerals and luminous dots. 30-minute totalizer at 3 o’clock. 12-hour totalizer at 6 o’clock. Small seconds on the tourbillon carriage partly in titanium at 12 o’clock. Open-tipped Breguet hands in blued steel with a luminescent substance.
- Movement hand-wound, numbered and signed Breguet, with tourbillon. 12 lines. 28 jewels. Cal. 554.4 50-hour power reserve. Balance-spring, escape-wheel and lever in silicon. Breguet balance-wheel. 3Hz frequency. Adjusted in 6 positions.
