Typified by cases with four horns and a crown at 3 o’clock, the DIMIER collection has been enriched by a new creation: Récital 5. BOVET being one of the most long-standing watchmaking manufactures still in operation, the brand is particularly keen on celebrating its history by respecting the traditions behind its success since 1822. Open to innovation, the past gives direction to Pascal Raffy and BOVET’s vision of the horizons of a coherent future.
Born from this philosophy, the 5th Récital of the DIMIER collection confirms BOVET’s determination to offer a range of complications meeting the requirements of modern use. Power-reserve, tourbillon (seconds), big date as well as hours and minutes are clearly visible in order of importance. This fifth version is not intended to be yet another variation on the themes interpreted by the previous Récitals; on the contrary, it has been “composed” around a movement designed, developed and manufactured entirely in house.
Big date
The dial manufactured by BOVET is made of brass and rock crystal. The two discs constituting the big date mechanism are completely visible through this dial. Despite the transparency, this function, unprecedented in the DIMIER collection, permits exceptionally easy reading. The reasons for this success are both simple and efficient. Firstly, the numerals painted white on a black background are known to offer the most distinctive combination for the eye to recognize, whatever the lighting conditions may be. Finally, a clever red frame painted on the dial itself divides the units and tens that make up the date while revealing with force and clarity the date which appears at 10 o’clock. The concentric superimposition of tens and units enables an ideal size of numerals to be achieved with the smallest possible mechanism dimensions, without in any way jeopardizing the reliability of the whole system. Intent on guaranteeing sustainable easy use by BOVET wearers, the designers and watchmakers of the manufacture chose a rapid pushpiece corrector and placed it ergonomically in the space between the crown and the top horn.
Balance and symmetry
Besides the functionality and criteria related to excellent movement timing, every detail – no detail being too small at BOVET – was set down in the specifications even before the first preliminary sketch was made. The architecture of this manual winding movement was devised to give the tourbillon and each of the other indications its own distinct space. Hours and minutes are off centre to the right of the horizontal axis; they are the first feature that the wearer sees. The big date occupies the left-hand side of the dial. The tourbillon is located at 6 o’clock and displays the seconds on the bottom half of the flange while the power-reserve indicator naturally found its place in the last available quarter of the dial, in other words in its upper section. The bridges are embellished with circular Côtes de Genève decoration imparting harmonizing the case and movement in a unique and original entity. In addition, the bottom-plate and bridges are the object of surface treatment which imparts an anthracite colour to them in perfect accord with the various precious metal combinations offered in the three different models of Récital 5. The middle parts and horns of each of the variations are in titanium (grade 5), a material characterised by extreme lightness and hardwearing quality, that being the reason why it is often used in medical and aerospace applications. Bezels, backs, pushpieces and crowns are available in grey gold or rose gold (5N).
